Wikipedia Edit: Rent

I just fixed some of Act 2 on the Rent Page, there was some clarification needed about the fight between Mark and Roger. I am a little concerned because the last edit that I made to the Rent page a few weeks ago, does not show up in the history of the page. The only thing I can think that happened was that I wasn't logged in at the time I edited the page, but there wasn't even an edit in the history on the day that I thought I did it. It bothers me because I almost completely rewrote Act 1 and it took me a long time to do! Is there any way to check that?

Wikipedia Edit

So, someone deleted the last edit that I made to the Hollywood Video page! I thought that the mission statement is an important part of the company's philosophy, so I reworded what I had written last time and edited it again... let's see if it stays this time!!

Wikipedia Edit

I made another edit to the Drew Lachey wikipedia page. There have been a bunch of edits since my last one, but no one changed anything that I wrote :)

loocsixela experiment

Better late than never, I suppose. Our class is trying a google search experiment using the word loocsixela. We are trying to see if using a fake word, like loocsixela, will make our blogs be listed when a search is done for that word on google. In addition, by linking the word loocsixela to the packers website, we are going to see if that site comes up under teh search as well. Let's see....

Myspace

In a recent post in the Modern Marketing blog, the author talked about advertising on myspace. I was suprised to see that it seems like advertisers try to steer clear of myspace, and as I read that, I realized that there really is very little advertising, if any, on the site. Being a slightly obsessive myspacer, this article caught my eye right away. I was a little offended by the assumption that myspace is only used by paedophiles, terrorists and whiny teens. I don't fall into any of those categories - I use myspace to keep in touch with my friends, and we use it often. I personally think that myspace would be a gold mine for advertisers, especially those who are targeting the 18 to 24 range of consumers. I, and most of my friends, log on to myspace at least once a day... more than any other site I visit. I think companies should reconsider myspace as a means of advertising.

Re: Will Blogging Get You Promoted?

I am posting to comment on Shel Isreal's blog post that poses the question Will Blogging Get You Promoted? I found his answer to this question particularly interesting to me, because as someone who will soon be entering the marketing world for the first time, I can really appreciate the skills I am learning from BUAD 477. Obviously, I've realized as this semester is progressing, blogging is a relatively new concept that can make or break you in the business world. Throughout the books we've read and the material taught in class, I've seen that blogging is a great way to personalize your business and distinguish it from competition. It can be used to rectify false rumors or to create buzz about new products. But after reading Sehl's post, I realize that blogging also has advantages for the blogger as well. Can blogging about your company or product really get you promoted? Shel seems to think so, and I am taking that advice with me when I graduate.
